At the University of Cambridge, Alex was a Right Honourable Paul Martin Sr. Scholar and was awarded the George Long Prize for Jurisprudence. At the University of Toronto Faculty of Law, Alex was awarded several course prizes including the Leonard Feigman Q.C. Prize in Evidence Law, the Macdonald Prize in Public International Law, and the Laskin Prize in Constitutional Law.
Prior to joining Torys, Alex served as a law clerk for Justice Michelle O’Bonsawin of the Supreme Court of Canada and as a law clerk for Justices Kathryn Feldman, Alexandra Hoy, Grant Huscroft, and Ian Nordheimer of the Court of Appeal for Ontario.
During law school and his LLM, Alex strived to explore areas of interest outside of the classroom. His extracurricular involvement included his work as a Co-Editor-in-Chief of the University of Toronto Faculty of Law Review, a General Editor of the Cambridge International Law Journal, a Division Leader and Caseworker for the Refugee and Immigration Law Division of Downtown Legal Services, and a Student Academic Advisor. Alex was also an active mooter, competing in the Cassels Brock Cup and the national and international rounds of the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot.
Alex is a member of The Advocates’ Society and the Osgoode Society for Canadian Legal History. He also serves as a Mentor for the University of Toronto International Relations Program Alumni Association.
