Stefan’s practice focuses on litigation and dispute resolution in a variety of areas, including intellectual property, administrative law, product liability, class actions, and corporate/commercial disputes. In Ontario, Stefan has appeared as counsel before the Divisional Court and the Commercial List of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice. Stefan has also appeared before the Federal Court.
During law school, Stefan competed in the Harold G. Fox Intellectual Property Moot, where he was named best oral advocate. Stefan’s team won the Fox Cup, which is awarded to the best mooting team, and also won the award for best factum. Stefan subsequently competed in the Oxford International Intellectual Property Moot, where his team placed second.
During law school, Stefan volunteered with Pro Bono Students Canada assisting self-represented litigants. He was also a member of the University of Toronto Faculty of Law’s Moot Court Committee, which runs the Faculty’s student mooting program.
Currently, Stefan volunteers through Pro Bono Ontario’s Small Claims Court Duty Counsel Program and the Pro Bono Hotline, where he provides summary legal advice to low-income individuals. Stefan also provides pro bono assistance to members of CARFAC (Canadian Artists’ Representation/le Front des artistes canadiens).
Stefan is a member of Torys’ Give-a-Day Committee, which helps to raise funds for AIDS research through an annual campaign.
