Partners Julie Himo and Molly Reynolds, senior associate Nic Wall and associate Rosalie Jetté will speak at Osgoode’s Privacy and Cybersecurity Law Certificate program taking place on February 6, 13, 20, 27, and March 6. Over the course of five modules, participants will gain the skills necessary to respond to new and unexpected privacy and cybersecurity incidents in Canada. Topics covered include the fundamentals of Canadian privacy law, international privacy frameworks, data protection laws, risk mitigation strategies, and more.
Molly will instruct a session in the first module, “Pending Changes in the Private Sector – Common Law Provinces” on February 6. The session will explore Bill C-27 – CPPA and AIDA, the status of contemplated reforms in Alberta and BC, and contemplated changes in Ontario.
Julie and Rosalie will instruct a session in the fourth module, “Tabletop Exercise: Data Breaches and Cybersecurity Incidents” on February 27. The session will examine legal risks and how to mitigate them through practical examples of responding to data breaches and cybersecurity incidents.
Nic will instruct a session in the fifth module, “Privacy and Cybersecurity Law Issues in M&A” on March 6. The session will provide practical guidance on representing vendors and purchasers in M&A transactions, including current discussions on requirements, exemptions, strategies and more.
