Nic’s practice focuses on privacy, cyber-security, digital innovation, data governance, corporate responsibility and litigation. Nic regularly advises clients on privacy law compliance in their businesses and in the context of commercial transactions, as well as on data security best practices, breach response, regulatory investigations and privacy class action defence. Nic represents clients in administrative proceedings under access to information, anti-spam and privacy legislation, as well as in the context of civil litigation.
Nic takes a holistic, practical approach to policy, risk management and achieving business objectives informed by his previous experience as a litigator and political staffer.
Nic has appeared as counsel at the Supreme Court of Canada, Federal Court, the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Ontario Court of Justice and in arbitrations.
