Chris Hunter is a litigator who has been recognized for his work in commercial litigation, international arbitration and regulatory proceedings.
The core of his practice focuses on complex commercial and regulatory disputes, including contractual and corporate litigation, class action defence, and regulatory proceedings, often relating to financial services, competition and professional regulation. He has appeared as counsel before all levels of court in Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia and the Supreme Court of Canada, as well as numerous regulatory tribunals and statutory commissions.
Chris also carries on an extensive domestic and international arbitration practice and has arbitrated claims under multiple treaties and procedural rules, including the ICSID, UNCITRAL, ICC and AAA. He has considerable experience litigating recognition and enforcement proceedings domestically on behalf of award creditors and debtors, and representing international organizations before Canadian courts, including in the leading Canadian decision on international organization immunity before the Supreme Court of Canada

Chris is recognized as a young leader in the profession and chairs the Young Advocates’ Standing Committee, a national committee of The Advocates’ Society devoted to promoting the interests and development of young lawyers. He presents and has published broadly on topics ranging from international arbitration to litigating commercial claims in insolvency proceedings.
