Alec has a broad litigation and dispute resolution practice, with an emphasis on class action defence, product liability, commercial disputes, and insolvency litigation. In his class actions practice, Alec has experience in multi-jurisdictional claims across various industries, including banking, pharmaceuticals, and consumer packaged goods.
Alec has appeared as counsel before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Court of Appeal for Ontario, the Federal Court of Appeal, the British Columbia Court of Appeal, and the Manitoba Court of King’s Bench.
Prior to joining Torys, Alec served as a law clerk for the judges of the Court of Appeal for Ontario and practiced with a leading class actions firm in Toronto.
While at law school, Alec acted as the Director of Research for the Legal Information Clinic at McGill and served as a student clerk for the Québec Court of Appeal. From 2016-2018, he served on the executive committee of the McGill Business Law Association.
Alec is a member of the Ontario Bar Association, The Advocates’ Society, and the Association of French Speaking Jurists of Ontario (AJEFO).
