Partners Molly Reynolds and Julie Himo, Senior Associate Nic Wall and associates Rosalie Jétte and Mavra Choudhry will speak at the Osgoode Certificate in Privacy and Cybersecurity Law program taking place on February 8, 15, 22, 27, and March 7. The certificate program will be delivered over five modules and will cover topics related to data privacy laws and regulations in Canada, managing risks associated with the disclosure of business and personal information, the future direction of data protection, best practices against cyberattack and more.
Molly and Nic will instruct module 1 “Fundamentals of Canadian Privacy Law” on February 8. The session will explore the core principles of privacy laws throughout Canada, understanding the role of regulators in Canada, key comparisons and differences between PIPEDA, Alberta PIPA and BC PIPA, impact of Québec privacy law and Law 25, and more.
Julie and Rosalie will instruct module 4 “Preparing and Responding to Data Breaches and Cybersecurity Incidents: Legal Obligations and Practical Strategies”. The session will discuss strategies and best practices when dealing with cybersecurity incidents, including exploring the legal risks and risk mitigation strategies when responding to data breaches and cybersecurity incidents.
Nic and Mavra will instruct module 5 “Key Challenges and Emerging Risks: Preparing for Tomorrow” on March 7. The session will provide an understanding of the legal and risk management issues related to changes in privacy and cybersecurity law in Canada, including current discussions on legislation, strategies, and skills, and much more.
