Torys receives 2021 OBA President’s Award for its work with Vaccine Hunters Canada

A Torys team consisting of partner Molly Reynolds, associate Nic Wall, and former associate Josh Morry, were named co-recipients of the Ontario Bar Association’s 2021 President’s Award for their work with Vaccine Hunters Canada.

As the world scrambled to find available COVID-19 vaccine appointments in 2020 and 2021, a community of volunteers dedicated their time to helping Canadian find and book timeslots in their local area. Vaccine Hunters Canada’s mission—to help Canadians find vaccines—involved groundbreaking work that needed to be executed with urgency.

Torys provided pro bono general legal advice regarding Vaccine Hunters Canada’s operations, including corporate, employment, privacy and tax considerations advice to Vaccine Hunters Canada as they sought to mobilize and begin rolling out their service to the Canadian public.

According to the OBA website, the OBA President's Award recognizes the significant contribution of an individual Canadian or Canadian organization, which, in the view of the OBA President, has made a significant contribution to the advancement of Justice in Ontario or elsewhere.

Torys shared the President’s Award with Nana Yanful of The Black Legal Action Centre for its tackling anti-Black racism.
