Greenfield Energy Centre completes C$650 million project financing
Torys acted as counsel to Greenfield Energy Centre LP on the financing with a team that included Jonathan Weisz, Scott Kraag, Boris Nevelev, Jennifer Manning, Colin Graham, Theresa Gregoire, David Chernos, Don Roger, Gwen Johnson, Andy Schifrin, Nadine Rockman Katz, Jason Adams, Alison Bauer, Tony DeMarinis, John Tobin, Grace Pereira and Dennis Mahony.
Krista Hill, Scott Bomhof, Jennifer Guerard, Richard Conway, Andrew Gray, Wilfred Estey, Patrick Flaherty, Natasha De Cicco and David Steele also represented Mitsui & Co. in the development of the project, its selection by the Ontario Ministry of Energy in its 2,500 MW Clean Energy RFP, certain aspects of the financing and Calpine's bankruptcy proceedings.
On May 31, 2007, Greenfield Energy Centre LP, a partnership of Mitsui & Co. and Calpine Corporation, completed the C$650 million financing of its 1,005 MW CCGT power project near Sarnia, Ontario. The credit facilities were jointly led by Tokyo Mitsubishi UFJ and Bank of Montreal.
