Aren is a corporate and commercial lawyer with a focus on transactions related to commercial real estate. He advises on mergers & acquisitions, redevelopments, financings, leases, expropriations, as well as on acquisitions and dispositions of real property. His experience includes office, commercial, and residential properties, mixed-use developments, seniors housing, transit projects, renewable energy projects, public spaces including parks, and a wide range of other asset classes. Aren brings a practical, results-driven approach to complex real estate transactions, guiding clients through legal and strategic challenges with effectiveness.
Aren currently serves on the board of directors of York Condominium Corporation No. 219 where he contributes to the governance and strategic oversight of the corporation.
Aren previously worked as an associate in the legal department of RioCan Real Estate Investment Trust, gaining valuable in-house experience with one of Canada’s largest real estate investment trusts.
During law school, Aren was elected President of the Osgoode-Schulich JD/MBA Students’ Association and actively contributed to the legal community through volunteer work with Osgoode Hall’s Community and Legal Aid Services Program (CLASP) and the Osgoode Venture Capital Clinic. He also served as an associate editor of the Osgoode Hall Law Journal.
Aren’s academic achievements include numerous awards from both the Schulich School of Business and Osgoode Hall Law School, such as the Pattanaik Award for Excellence in Finance, Steven K. Hudson Finance Award, Thomas Beck MBA Award, Hennick Scholar Award, and the Dean’s Entrance Award. He also received the Louis J. Brody, Q.C. Scholarship and the McMillan LLP Award in recognition of legal excellence.
