Lauren’s practice focuses on corporate law with an emphasis on private equity and venture capital. Lauren represents fund sponsors on all aspects of the private market fund formation and capital raising process. She also represents public pension plans and other institutional investors in connection with their investments in buy-out, venture capital, hedge fund and infrastructure funds, as well as co-investment transactions. Lauren’s work also includes secondary transactions to buy or sell interests in a fund or a portfolio of funds.

Lauren has advised a number of institutional investors in connection with structuring, negotiating and investing in private market funds, including AIMCo, BMO, CPPIB, HarbourVest Partners, IMCO, Northleaf Capital Partners, OMERS, OPTrust, PSPIB, TD Bank and Teralys Capital. Lauren has also advised several clients, including CBRE Caledon Capital and Amplitude Venture Capital, in connection with the planning, forming and negotiating of their private market funds as well as their internal governance and economic arrangements.

Professional Involvement

Prior to joining Torys, Lauren practiced corporate and securities law with another leading Canadian law firm, where her practice focused on mergers and acquisitions, capital markets transactions and general corporate matters. During this period, she also worked in the firm’s New York City office and was seconded to Target Canada.

Lauren also has experience as a management consultant in Toronto and has completed an investment banking internship in London, England.


Lauren is currently a member of the Nominating Committee of the Board of Directors at YWCA Toronto. She has previously held roles as a member and secretary of the Board of Directors.
