Emily’s practice focuses on corporate law and securities law, with an emphasis on capital markets transactions and mergers and acquisitions. She has been involved in a wide range of M&A transactions, private placements and public equity and debt offerings, including initial public offerings. Emily also provides ongoing advice to public companies on their disclosure, corporate governance and securities law obligations.
Before joining Torys, Emily worked as a summer law student in the legal department at The Salvation Army, where she researched and wrote memoranda on a variety of legal matters. As a summer student at Torys, Emily completed a six-week secondment at Brookfield Asset Management. In her articles, Emily completed a three-month secondment at the legal department of CIBC.
While attending law school, Emily was editor in chief of Ultra Vires (the law school student newspaper), a volunteer for Artists' Legal Advice Services, and was Vice President of Communications of the JD/MBA Students' Association. Emily was also part of a finalist team in the McKinsey Case Competition at Rotman and received an individual award for best question and answer performance.
