When a financial institution invests in a fintech its goals are often more than just a return on its investment. It is often part of a wider strategic plan to access the fintech's technology or intellectual property and obtain a voice in its evolution—whether through an acquisition or by participating as an investor in the fintech until future sale or IPO.
Join our panel as we discuss how financial institutions think about their goals and how they complement or contradict the typical objectives held by fintech founders and investors. We will unpack how to balance entrepreneurial spirit against fiduciary and regulatory responsibilities, the differences in how financial institutions and fintechs approach deals, as well as potential conflicts that can occur when multiple financial institutions are investing in the same fintech.
