Patently Absurd, Episode 11: sufficiency, EU’s Unitary Patent Court, and Q&A with a senior patent practitioner

Join Torys' intellectual property lawyers for an informal discussion on all aspects of patent law. We’ll be analyzing the old, the new—and most definitely the absurd—in candid conversation, all while taking questions from the audience and welcoming special guests along the way.

Episode 11: sufficiency, EU’s Unitary Patent Court, and Q&A with a senior patent practitioner

Join Niki and Andy for the final Patently Absurd for 2023. In this episode, they will discuss the age-old requirement of sufficiency and the date at which it is to be determined. They will also take a look at the EU’s new Unitary Patent Court and ask what we in Canada need to know about this new Court and process. Lastly, fellow intellectual property and patent lawyer, Head of Torys’ IP and Food and Drug Regulatory practices, and Niki and Andy's colleague, Eileen McMahon, will answer those burning questions you have wanted to ask, but never had the chance.

  • Something Old: Sufficiency and the date at which it is to be determined.
  • Something New: What Canada needs to know about the EU’s new Unitary Patent Court and its process.
  • Something Borrowed: Everything you wanted to ask a senior patent practitioner but were too afraid to.

This session will be presented in English.
