Members of Torys’ Food and Drug Regulatory team, Eileen McMahon, Teresa Reguly, Yolande Dufresne and Manpreet Singh, have authored the article “2016 Year in Review—Top 10 Food and Tobacco Product Issues in Canada” which has been published in the FDLI’s Update: Food Issue. The article gives an in-depth review of the federal government’s initiatives with the support of Health Canada to promote healthier practices for Canadians. Analyzing changes to the presentation of food’s nutritional facts on labels, packaging and list of ingredients—as well as several other important changes—the article discusses how raising consumer awareness of food’s nutritional value with the proper context will facilitate healthier living in Canada.
