Oil and gas in the era of decarbonisation, ESG and the energy transition

November 04, 2020 11:00 - 12:00 ET

Part of IBA 2020 – Virtually Together

Oil and gas companies are being pressured by stakeholders (investors, governments, consumers, employees, communities and the general population) to demonstrate responsible environmental, social and governance (ESG) practices and decrease their environmental footprint while continuing to meet energy demands globally.

This panel will discuss:

  • how IOCs and NOCs are grappling with the challenges of delivering energy in an affordable, profitable and sustainable manner across the globe;
  • disruptions faced by the industry, including strategies for reducing emissions, the impact of technology and the changing legal landscape as governments explore new ways to create incentives, policies and regulations for a sustainable energy market; and
  • the role of hydrocarbons in the energy mix going forward and solutions being offered by major energy companies.

Case studies will be used to illustrate how oil and gas companies are reinventing themselves in both industrialised and developing countries and the panel will include presenters from IOCs, NOCs and the investment community who will share their experiences, navigating the energy transition and shift toward a low carbon future.
