Stephanie manages a diverse corporate and transactional practice, working with oil and gas companies in Canada and internationally. She advises on all aspects of their business, including board and governance matters, securities and regulatory compliance, mergers and acquisitions, debt and equity financings, corporate structuring, labour matters and commercial arrangements.
Stephanie is actively involved in all stages of her clients’ transactions, from strategic discussions to completion of deals. Her involvement often includes coordinating the roles of a large team of lawyers and advisers in many jurisdictions and managing the government and partner approval processes. At the board level, she advises on best practices for governance, fiduciary duties, disclosure, compliance, corporate ethics and social responsibility, anti-corruption and other legal matters. Stephanie often acts in the role of in-house counsel and as corporate secretary for international oil and gas companies.
Stephanie’s transactional experience extends beyond Canada to the United States, the Middle East, Turkey, Argentina, Africa, China, Colombia, Ireland, the Netherlands and other jurisdictions. She was recently lead counsel on several M&A transactions and related financings for oil and gas companies with international assets. Stephanie has represented clients on various domestic and international acquisitions, joint ventures and contractor arrangements.

Before relocating to Calgary, Stephanie practised environmental and natural resource law in Denver, Colorado, where she worked on a broad range of U.S. legal matters in the natural resources, environmental, regulatory and corporate practice. Stephanie clerked for Stephen Trott, a well-known federal appellate judge in the United States Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, where she advised on complex federal cases.
Stephanie is a former director of the Ability Society of Alberta and is an active volunteer in her community and with her children’s sports teams.

Stephanie is an Officer of the Oil and Gas Committee of the International Bar Association. She is also a member of the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation, the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators and the Natural Resources Canada Advisory Committee for the Extractive Sector Transparency Measures Act.
