Nike completes US$200 million sale of Bauer Hockey subsidiary

On April 16, 2008, an investor group led by Kohlberg & Company, LLC and Canadian businessman W. Graeme Roustan completed its acquisition of the Bauer Hockey subsidiary of Nike Inc. for US$200 million in cash. Nike, which acquired Bauer in 1995, divested Bauer Hockey following a strategic review of its subsidiary businesses. Under the terms of the deal, Bauer will continue to use the Nike Bauer Hockey trademark on existing products for up to two years.

Nike, based near Beaverton, Oregon, is the world's leading designer, marketer and distributor of athletic footwear, apparel, equipment and accessories.

Bauer, founded in 1927, developed the first skate with the blade attached to the boot and is now the leading manufacturer of branded ice skates, hockey sticks and helmets.

Kohlberg & Company is a leading private equity firm with offices in Mt. Kisco, New York and Portola Valley, California.

W. Graeme Roustan is a Montrealer whose wholly owned holding company Roustan Inc. invests in arena and aviation businesses.
