The Bargain Shop completes management buyout
Torys acted as counsel to Genuity Capital Partners and the acquisition vehicle with a team led by Cameron Koziskie and that included Alfred Avanessy, Guy Berman (corporate), Adam Delean, Bela Halasz and Nadine Rockman Katz (lending), Corrado Cardarelli and Richard Johnson (tax) and Carolyn Naiman (competition).
On October 6, 2006, a management-led buyout of The Bargain Shop Holdings, operator of a 150-store chain of discount retail stores throughout Canada, was completed. Equity funding for the transaction, the value of which is undisclosed, was provided by Genuity Capital Partners, certain co-investors and Bargain Shop's management, and the debt financing consisted of two debt facilities provided by Capital Source Finance and Wachovia Capital Finance Corporation (Canada).
