Ronke has a broad litigation practice, with a focus on complex commercial disputes, investigations, and public and administrative law. She represents and provides advice to a diverse range of clients, including technology and telecommunications companies, financial institutions, crown agencies and Indigenous communities. Ronke also has experience in trials and arbitrations across various areas, including constitutional and Charter issues, conflict of laws, breach of contract, business torts, defamation, competition law, and shareholder disputes.
Prior to joining Torys, Ronke was an associate at a litigation boutique in Toronto. She also acted as Commission Counsel to the Mass Casualty Commission, a joint federal/provincial public inquiry investigating the April 2020 mass casualty event that occurred in Nova Scotia. She was also involved with the Long-Term Care COVID-19 Commission as a legal researcher and fact checker.
Ronke is a member of the Ontario Bar Association Council, representing the Toronto Region, and has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Canadian Association of Black Lawyers as the Community Liaison.
Ronke also frequently speaks on industry-related topics, most recently covering pre-hearing conferences and mediations at adjudicative tribunals as part of the Ontario Bar Association’s professional development programming.
While at law school, Ronke completed a semester at the Human Rights Legal Support Centre in Toronto, where she assisted clients throughout the application process and appeared in mediations and hearings at the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario. She also worked as an academic research assistant and seminar coordinator with the Jack & Mae Nathanson Centre at Osgoode.
