Partners Anne Merminod and Milosz Zemanek, and senior associate Alexandra Hebert will speak at the International Bar Association’s Annual Conference in Mexico City from September 15 to 20.
Milosz will speak on September 17 at 2:30 p.m. as part of the session “Another challenge for the energy transition: integrating power project facilities into their local environment”. With insights from various jurisdictions, the session will explore some of the constraints associated with the development of new power facilities and discuss how local integration can be best achieved.
On September 18 at 2:30 p.m., Anne will present on the legal challenges associated with data and privacy breaches around the globe. The session, titled “Data breach and privacy: are class actions delivering effective remedies?”, will examine how different countries’ courts and governments are responding to breaches while striking a balance between large tech companies and individuals rights.
Finally, Alexandra will speak at 11:15 a.m. on September 19 as part of a session on Indigenous rights, titled “Are class actions the only way to effectively protect Indigenous rights? A global perspective”. With a focus on jurisprudence from Latin America and other global perspectives, this session will explore whether class actions are the only remaining way to protect and respect rights holders in our modern industrialized world.
