Torys named Law Firm of the Year in leveraged buyouts and private equity

Torys is proud to announce that we have been named 2021 Law Firm of the Year by Best Lawyers in leveraged buyouts and private equity.

Torys’ private equity team is very active on both sides of the Canada-U.S. border and has a long history working with key players in the industry. You can read their latest report, PE Pulse 2020, which features the team’s commentary as well as the results of a survey of over 100 private equity and pension fund leaders on their thoughts on what’s next for the industry.

Additionally, we are delighted to report that three of our partners were named Lawyer of the Year in their regional practices:

• Sheila Block (Toronto): director and officer liability

Best Lawyers methodology

According to Best Lawyers, "Law Firm of the Year" awards recognize a single top firm for its work in a specific legal practice area (nationwide). Winners are chosen based on lawyer ballot feedback, the firm's coverage and scope in a particular area, previous firm "Lawyer of the Year" awards, and the firm's reputational expertise in a practice area.

Lawyer of the Year recognitions are awarded to lawyers who have received the highest overall peer-feedback for a specific practice area and region. Best Lawyers only names one lawyer as the "Lawyer of the Year" in each field and location.
