Whapmagoostui-Kuujjuaraapik Hybrid Power Plant
Torys acted as counsel to Goldwind USA in the negotiation of turbine supply and services agreements with Kuujjuaraapik-Whapmagoostui Renewable Energy Corporation in connection with the proposed Whapmagoostui-Kuujjuaraapik Hybrid Power Plant, an Indigenous-owned off-grid wind power project in northern Québec.
The project proposes to add wind energy to the diesel plant powering the communities of the Whapmagoostui Cree Nation and the Nunavik community of Kuujjuaraapik, with the aim to significantly decrease the use of fossil fuel for electricity generation.
The plant will have a total installed capacity of 2.4 MW provided by three Goldwind GW87 1.5 MW turbines.
