Kokish River Hydroelectric Project Financing
Torys acted as counsel to Brookfield Renewable Energy Partners in its C$175 million private placement of 4.45% senior bonds to finance its 45 MW Kokish River hydroelectric facility near Port McNeill, British Columbia.
Located on Vancouver Island, 15 km east of Port McNeill, the Kokish River Hydroelectric Project is run-of-river facility with an installed capacity of 45 MW, generating enough clean renewable energy to power 13,000 homes annually.
The facility is owned and operated by Kwagis Power, a partnership between Brookfield Renewable Partners and the ‘Namgis First Nations.
