Kneehill Solar Project
Torys acted as counsel to Capstone Infrastructure in its acquisition and development of the 25 MW Kneehill Solar Project in central Alberta from Samsung Renewable Energy Inc., including the negotiation of its EPC agreements, module and inverter supply agreements and other related commercial agreements.
Permitted for development on approximately 160 acres of privately owned farmland in Kneehill County, approximately 2.5 km north of the town of Three Hills, the project is approved for an array of approximately 64,000 solar panels to be mounted on a single-axis tracking system.
Acquired by Capstone at the same time as the nearby 25 MW Michichi Solar Project, located approximately 1 km northwest of the town of Drumheller, both projects are anticipated to achieve commercial operation by January 2023.
