Castle Harlan completes US$200 million acquisition of Pretium Packaging
Torys acted as Canadian counsel to Castle Harlan with a team that included Guy Berman, Philip Mohtadi and A.J. Silber (corporate), Mitch Frazer (pension and employment), Michael Fortier (environmental), Luke Crosby (corporate and lending), Theresa Reguly (IP) and Omar Wakil and Sue-Anne Fox (competition and Investment Canada).
On February 16, 2010, Castle Harlan, Inc. completed its acquisition of Pretium Packaging, L.L.C. In conjunction with the closing of the Pretium transaction, Castle Harlan announced that Pretium acquired PVC Container Corporation, the parent of Novapak Corporation, which also makes specialty plastic containers and has a product line and customer base that complement Pretium's. The total transaction is valued at approximately US$200 million.
The combined company, which will carry the Pretium name, will have 14 manufacturing plants in the United States and Canada serving more than 500 customers.
