Thomas Yeo's practice focuses on corporate/commercial and securities law, with an emphasis on corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions. Thomas has been involved in representing both issuers and investment banks in a variety of domestic and international public offerings. He has also represented both acquirers and targets in a variety of public and private company M&A transactions, including a number of significant cross-border transactions. As an example, Thomas has worked with Fairfax Financial Holdings for over a decade on their M&A mandates, going private transactions, strategic investments and capital markets transactions.
Thomas regularly advises issuers on ongoing corporate governance and securities compliance matters and has extensive experience in advising cross-listed issuers on such matters. As a member of the firm’s research and opinions group, Thomas is also engaged in providing clear and concise assessments of legal risk and solutions to avoid or mitigate those risks, for Torys’ clients in any area of business—addressing contract and statutory interpretation in situations where the contract or the law is unclear or is difficult to apply.
