Ian’s practice is rooted in public policy and regulatory law, with a particular focus on energy and infrastructure. He brings a unique blend of perspectives to complex regulatory and governance challenges, helping clients to navigate the legal, policy, and political dimensions of energy projects. His experience spans stakeholder engagement, data and financial analysis, Indigenous consultation and agreements, and tribunal governance, making him a valuable asset for clients navigating Canada’s energy transition and infrastructure modernization.
Before practicing as a lawyer, Ian worked as an independent consultant, providing policy research, data analysis, and strategic advice for a range of organizations, including the Ontario Ministry of Energy, Northern Development and Mines. As part of this work, he led national research initiatives on energy regulation, advised government panels, and authored policy reports that have shaped provincial energy planning and infrastructure development.
