Melissa Prado’s practice focuses on corporate/commercial matters and regulatory compliance in the financial services and payments industry, with an emphasis on consumer protection and insurance corporate and regulatory law. Melissa has also advised clients on corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, and capital markets transactions, and on general corporate and governance matters.
Melissa is a member of the Bank Regulatory, Insurance Regulatory, and Payments and Cards Practices. She is also fluent in Spanish.
Melissa is the incoming Managing General Editor of the Banking and Finance Law Review (BFLR).
Before joining Torys, Melissa was an assistant investment adviser at TD Waterhouse Private Investment Advice. During law school, Melissa worked as a research and teaching assistant.
During law school, Melissa volunteered at the Community Legal Aid Clinic Program. And at Torys, she has acted as a mentor with the Law in Action Within Schools (LAWS) program, a high school program that uses legal education as a tool to assist students to succeed in school and become engaged and active citizens.
