Matt McMahon has a broad corporate practice, with a particular focus on energy, oil and gas and infrastructure.
In the energy and oil and gas sectors, Matt has experience in private and public company mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, project development, acquisitions and divestitures, and midstream/transportation matters. He also regularly advises clients on various corporate governance, shareholder and general corporate matters.
In the infrastructure sector, Matt has been involved in a broad range of large-scale public-private partnerships across Canada.
Prior to joining Torys, Matt served as the general counsel to PrairieSky Royalty Ltd., a publicly traded oil and gas royalty company and the largest fee title mineral owner in Canada.
Matt previously volunteered at the Calgary Legal Guidance Center and was the Commissioner of the Calgary Lawyers’ Hockey League. During his collegiate hockey career at UBC and the University of Ottawa, he volunteered for community youth hockey programs. While at law school, Matt was a senior editor of the Ottawa Law Review.
