Renée Matthews' practice focuses on energy law, with an emphasis on the commercial aspects of renewable energy projects and oil and gas transactions. She also practices in the areas of M&A and general corporate law. Renée's experience includes advising clients on various joint venture and partnership arrangements, as well as work on asset and share purchase deals relating to the energy industry.

Renée currently participates as a Torys representative to the Law Society of Alberta’s Justicia Project, a program aimed at retaining, advancing and supporting women lawyers in private practice.
Renée acts as pro-bono legal counsel to the National Music Centre (NMC) in Calgary, assisting the NMC with artifact donation, public art project, and leasing and general corporate matters relating to the development of the NMC’s new performance and music-education facility, which is slated to open in 2016. While at UBC, Renée was actively involved in student government, serving as an executive member of the MBA Society and the MBA Humanitarian Council, which raised money for Vancouver charities.
