Dave practices corporate law, with a focus on U.S. securities offerings by Canadian issuers, including in private placements and in registered transactions under the Canada-U.S. Multijurisdictional Disclosure System (MJDS), as well as disclosure matters, periodic reporting and corporate governance.
During law school, Dave was awarded the Stephanie Fleur Couzin Medal in Mooting, the Gowling WLG Prize in Corporate Finance, the Leonard Feigman, Q.C. Prize in Evidence and the John Atkinson Prize in Litigation. Dave was awarded top oralist in the 2015 Laskin Moot, where his team also placed first overall.
Prior to joining Torys, Dave was a corporate associate at an international law firm in New York, where he focused on U.S. securities offerings, as well as corporate disclosure and governance matters, for Canadian and U.S. corporations.
Dave has an extensive pro bono practice, having worked on a number of significant pro bono matters, including corporate formation for a minority and women-owned business and name change proceedings before the New York City Civil Court on behalf of transgender people. Dave has also worked on various immigration matters, including the reunification of separated migrant families, work which has been chronicled in the New York Times and other national publications.
Dave serves as a member of the Transportation Committee of the New York City Bar Association.
