Ben is an associate in the firm’s tax group, where his practice focuses on domestic and international corporate tax planning. He has advised on corporate restructurings, partnership formations, mergers and acquisitions and corporate financings. Ben has worked with major Canadian and international businesses across a wide range of industries.
Prior to joining Torys, Ben practiced at another full-service national law firm.
Ben has been a guest lecturer at Ryerson University Law & Business Clinic presenting on introductory tax law.
He is the co-author of “Canada and the GAAR: A Catch-all for Abusive/Avoidance Tax Planning” in Trusts and Trustees, Vol. 25, No. 1, 75-92 and the author of the OBA Taxation Newsletter article “1245989 Alberta Ltd. v. The Queen: The GAAR Successfully Applied to Attempted Surplus Strip Transaction.”
Ben has completed Parts I and II of the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Course.
