Overview

Steve Hundal’s practice focuses on intellectual property matters with an emphasis on the acquisition, enforcement and exploitation of patents, industrial designs, trademarks, and copyrights. Steve has experience drafting high-technology and mechanical patent specifications in a variety of technical fields, including the automotive and telecommunications fields. He has prosecuted both technology and pharmaceutical-based patent applications, and has further expertise conducting patentability and patent validity opinions, as well as patent and trademark infringement opinions. Steve has prepared non-disclosure agreements and assisted with drafting technology and trademark licensing contracts. He has also been involved in trademark opposition proceedings.

Steve is a registered patent and trademark agent in Canada.

Professional Involvement

Before joining Torys, Steve was an associate with a boutique intellectual property law firm in Toronto.

Prior to his legal career, Steve worked as an engineer with Redknee, Inc., garnering extensive international experience in the telecommunications vendor space, particularly in product operations management. Steve also supervised compliance with Service Level Agreements for some of Canada's leading e-Retailers as Senior Service Manager at Nurun, Inc., a global design and technology consultancy.

Community

During law school, Steve volunteered at a legal aid clinic, taking calls and conducting intake questionnaires. Steve has also been involved in fund raising activities for the United Way, the Heart & Stroke Foundation, and Huntington’s disease.
