Overview

Adam’s cross-border practice focuses on corporate law, financing, and technology transactions in the life sciences and health technology industries. Adam’s clients include life sciences, health technology, and health service companies, and the angel investors, venture firms, and private equity funds who finance and partner with them.

Adam has a particular practice focus on strategic partnering and commercialization for pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, and diagnostic companies, and frequently advises on complex licensing, venture capital transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and intellectual property monetization. He works closely with his clients to develop, scale, and commercialize their technologies in Canada, the United States, and worldwide.

Adam is qualified as a lawyer in Ontario, New York, and Massachusetts and works on both sides of the border. Before law school, Adam attended the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Toronto and is a licensed Ontario pharmacist.

Professional Involvement

Before joining Torys, Adam practiced law at a cross-border law firm focused on technology transactions and intellectual property in the life sciences and nutraceutical industries. In law school, Adam was the coordinator of the IP Osgoode Innovation Clinic and completed a placement in the legal affairs department of a multinational pharmaceutical company.

Memberships and Affiliations

Adam is the chair of the Medical Devices Committee of the Licensing Executives Society (LES) and is one of a handful of Canadian lawyers that have obtained the Certified Licensing Professional (CLP) designation. This certification is issued only to persons who have met the requirements for licensing professionals, established by CLP, Inc., under the guidance of LES. Adam is also a member of the Ontario College of Pharmacists.
