Overview
Albert’s practice focuses on intellectual property and regulatory matters, particularly with respect to food, pharmaceutical, and medical device industries. Albert has assisted clients with filing and prosecuting patent applications in a variety of fields including biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and plant genetic engineering. He has also advised clients regarding Food and Drugs Act compliance, packaging and labelling, and establishment licensing.
Professional Involvement
Before joining Torys, Albert summered at another national full service law firm, where he worked on regulatory, intellectual property litigation, and securities matters.
Prior to his legal career, Albert worked as a technical scientist at the Agricultural, Food and Nutritional Science department at the University of Alberta. He also worked with the federal government as a research biologist with CanmetENERGY at Natural Resources Canada and as a quality control analyst with Biomira Inc., where he assisted with pharmaceutical manufacturing support for clinical trials of cancer vaccine products.
