Overview
In the recently released 2016 budget, the Canadian federal government announced additional funding for Nutrition North Canada. With a promised total of $64.5 million over the next five years, Nutrition North Canada will help alleviate the high cost of food in many of Canada’s northern communities, and specifically will subsidize the cost of fresh, perishable foods in those communities. Nutrition North Canada has also been tasked with developing education initiatives to promote healthy dieting habits in northern communities.
