Get in the Know – Canada’s Cosmetic Ingredient Hotlist

Food and Drug Regulatory Law Did you know that Health Canada maintains a list of substances that are restricted or prohibited in cosmetics. The list, known as the Cosmetic Ingredient, helps to keep the cosmetic industry aware of new substances that Health Canada considers inappropriate for cosmetic use, or which require hazard labelling. The listed substances, which typically contravene section 16 of the Canadian Food and Drugs Act or a section of the Cosmetic Regulations, are reviewed and updated as new scientific data becomes available.
