Five Toronto lawyers will participate in the Ontario Bar Association’s Ontario Legal Conference Series between May 4. This conference will delve into all things that lawyers need to consider when dealing with cross-border considerations. This one-day conference will cover four overlapping streams: business, tax, privacy and IT and litigation, and provide practical and timely insights for participants.

Ricco Basin and Paulina Taverna will both participate on the “Structuring and drafting cross boarder M&A agreements” session at 10:15 a.m. This session will look at key considerations, including enforceability issues, data consideration and anti-corruption.

Ian Li and Rebecca Wagner will be a part of the “Special review and regulatory considerations for cross-border transactions” session at 11:20 a.m., which will look at some of the critical issues surrounding these transactions, including considerations related to national security reviews and various issues regarding the Investment Canada Act.

Also at 11:20 a.m., Molly Reynolds will take part in the “Cross-border transfers and cybersecurity” session. This session will unpack the rules and restrictions on cross-border transfers, the implications of doing business internationally and dealing with respective regulators, as well look at some of the emerging trends, among other things.
