Ontario Line - Rolling Stock, Systems, Operations and Maintenance (RSSOM)

In addition to a 30-year term design build finance operate maintain contract for the entire Ontario Line, the scope of work for the RSSOM project includes:

• the design, supply, operation and maintenance of the Ontario Line rolling stock (trains)
• the design, build, operation and maintenance of all track, communications and train control systems for the Ontario Line
• the design, build, operation and maintenance of an Operations, Maintenance and Storage Facility 
• the design, build, operation and maintenance of an Operations Control Centre (where staff control train operations and connection to TTC and GO Transit systems), as well as a Backup Operations Control Centre
• the integration of fare equipment with the PRESTO system, the electronic payment system operated by Metrolinx linking 11 transit agencies and their fare policies across the Greater Toronto, Hamilton and Ottawa regions

The development of the 15.6 km Ontario Line has been divided into three separate public-private partnership procurement contracts

• RSSOM — to design, build, finance, operation and maintenance of the rolling stock, systems, operations and maintenance for the Ontario Line
• Southern Civil, Stations and Tunnel — to design, build and finance the southern portion of the Ontario Line from Exhibition/Ontario Place to the Don Yard portal (west of the Don River)
• Northern Civil, Stations and Tunnel —details to be released in early 2022
