Alderville Solar Farm
Torys acted as counsel to Bank of Montreal in an equity loan to the Alderville First Nation as part of the Ontario Aboriginal Loan Guarantee Program to finance the development of the 5.7 MW Alderville Solar Farm located near Rice Lake, Ontario.
The Aboriginal Loan Guarantee Program is a C$1 billion program, administered by the Ontario Financing Authority, supporting the participation of Indigenous groups in Ontario electricity infrastructure projects, including renewable energy infrastructure and transmission projects.
The Alderville Solar Farm, consisting of 2,300 Silfab SLA-M 245 Wp solar panels spanning an area over 1,960,200 square feet in the Township of Alnwick/Haldimand, is the first ground-mount solar farm owned solely by a First Nation in Ontario.
