Brookfield Asset Management completes C$800 million in financings
On June 2, 2009, Brookfield Asset Management (TSX, NYSE: BAM) completed a public offering of C$500 million principal amount of senior unsecured 8.95% notes due June 2, 2014. The notes were offered by a syndicate of agents led by CIBC World Markets Inc. and RBC Dominion Securities Inc. and including Scotia Capital Inc., TD Securities Inc., BMO Nesbitt Burns Inc., HSBC Securities (Canada) Inc., and National Bank Financial Inc.
On June 4, 2009, Brookfield completed a bought deal public offering of 7% Class A preferred shares, Series 22 for gross proceeds of $300 million, including shares issued upon the exercise of the underwriters' option. The shares were offered by a syndicate of underwriters led by CIBC World Markets Inc., RBC Capital Markets, Scotia Capital Inc. and TD Securities Inc. and including BMO Nesbitt Burns Inc., HSBC Securities (Canada) Inc., National Bank Financial Inc., Blackmont Capital Inc., Canaccord Capital Corporation, Dundee Securities Corporation and Raymond James Ltd.
Both offerings were made pursuant to Brookfield's short-form base shelf prospectus dated January 12, 2009.
