Henry works with a broad range of public and private sector clients, including public and private companies, Crown corporations and government agencies.
Henry’s energy regulatory practice involves a range of proceedings before the Ontario Energy Board. He regularly assists clients in rates, licensing and leave to construct proceedings, and provides strategic advice regarding regulatory issues that affect various energy sector participants, including electricity generators as well as electricity and gas transmitters and distributors.
As part of his transactional practice, Henry assists buyers, sellers, lenders and investors through the environmental, health and safety aspects of mergers, acquisitions, financings and other corporate transactions, with a focus on transactions in the energy and infrastructure sector. He has also been involved in the development, permitting and financing of renewable energy projects in Ontario, assisting clients in navigating environmental permitting and approval processes as well as land and municipal road use matters.
A member of Torys' Climate Change group, Henry also works with companies to address the risks and opportunities posed by climate change, advising them on the formation of and compliance with cap-and-trade regulations. He writes regularly about key developments in the law of climate change and emissions trading.
While articling, Henry was seconded to the legal department at Ontario Power Generation. Prior to his legal career, Henry was a transmission system planner and regulatory analyst in the electricity sector. He is a registered professional engineer with APEGA.
During law school, Henry was a working group member of the David Asper Centre for Constitutional Rights, and an associate editor for the University of Toronto Faculty of Law Review. He also volunteered as a case worker for Downtown Legal Services at the University of Toronto.
Henry is an active volunteer with Law in Action Within Schools (LAWS) program, a high school program that uses legal education as a tool to assist students to succeed in school and become engaged and active citizens.
