Colby’s practice focuses on corporate law, with an emphasis on private equity, private fund formation and M&A. He has broad experience with private equity fund formation transactions, regularly acting for private equity fund sponsors, pension plans, and other institutional investors in their investments into private equity funds.
Colby has also been involved in numerous private equity and private M&A transactions, including investments and exits by private equity funds and strategic parties in a wide range of industries.
As an articling student at Torys, Colby was seconded to Scotiabank. Colby also volunteered for the Law in Action Within Schools (LAWS) program, a high school program that uses legal education as a tool to assist students to succeed in school and become engaged and active citizens.
While at law school, Colby was a volunteer caseworker at the Queen’s Business Law Clinic, providing legal services to local businesses and was the Co-President of the Queen’s Law Cancer Society.
