Torys Wins Copyright Firm of the Year and Milestone IP Case Award

We are delighted to announce that Torys was recognized as Canada’s Copyright Firm of the Year at the Managing IP Americas Awards 2019 event held in New York on April 4, 2019.

Managing IP also recognized us with a Milestone Case award for our work on landmark case Rogers Communications Inc. v. Voltage Pictures. Torys represented Rogers before the Supreme Court of Canada, which ruled in Rogers’ favour, saying internet service providers are entitled to be reimbursed for their time spent sourcing information on customers’ internet usage, particularly those suspected of illegal downloads.
