M&A Torys Quarterly piece featured on PE Hub Canada
An in depth look into M&A in Canada produced by a team of Torys lawyers has been published by PE Hub Canada.
One of the co-authors of the piece, which forms part of the Q1 Torys Quarterly, Sophia Tolias, spoke with PE Hub Canada about the article. Sophia authored the piece with John Emanoilidis, Michael Akkawi which is called “M&A in Canada: Resilient Market, Smart Investors.”
Sophia told the publication that with good prospects for a robust Canadian economy there was plenty of reason to expect sustained momentum in Canadian M&A activity in 2018.
A small excerpt from the article is below:
Canada’s market for mergers and acquisitions was highly active in 2017 in terms of volume, but with smaller values. Strategic buyers drove much of the action. And private equity firms found plenty of sell-side opportunities, but continued to be selective when doing new deals.
The mid-market remained the focal point, but with an emphasis on smaller transactions. Both inbound and outbound deal-making showed strength. And, generally speaking, investors of all types exhibited prudence in what continues to be a frothy and competitive market at home and abroad.
