Julia Holland is General Counsel and Director, Risk Management. She is responsible for risk management across the firm and works closely with the firm’s lawyers and administrative departments. Julia advises colleagues on conflicts of interest, ethics and other matters of professional responsibility. She develops policies for the firm and assists with professional development and training. Julia handles professional liability insurance for the firm and manages the Conflicts and Records group.
Julia is a frequent speaker on matters involving conflicts of interest, ethics, and other professional responsibility issues. She has spoken at conferences organised by the Ontario Bar Association, the Canadian Bar Association, the Federation of Law Societies, the University of Toronto's Centre for the Legal Profession and the Law Society of Upper Canada.
Julia is a member of the Association of Professional Responsibility Lawyers, the Pearson College Alumni Association and the Harvard Club of Toronto. Julia was a member of the Advisory Board of the Centre for the Legal Profession at the University of Toronto (2011-2013) and a member of the LSUC’s Expert Advisory Group on the Retention of Women in Private Practice (2007-2009).
Julia is involved in student selection for schools and scholarships (including Harvard College and Loran Scholars) and in various other community organisations including the Rosedale United Church Refugee Committee, the Sporting Life 10K Volunteer Committee and the Rosedale-Moore Park Association Mayfair Committee.
