Ian's practice focuses on all areas of domestic and international income tax law, including private equity transactions, corporate reorganizations, financings, public debt and equity offerings, and mergers and acquisitions. Ian also routinely provides specialized tax advice to charities and not-for-profit organizations.
Ian has provided legal services on a number of pro bono matters, including assisting organizations with charity registration.
In law school, Ian worked as a teaching assistant and a research assistant and received the David Mullan Entrance Scholarship in law from Queen’s University Faculty of Law. He volunteered as a student caseworker at Queen’s Business Law Clinic and was a member of Pro Bono Students Canada. He was also the President of Queen’s Outlaw, the Queen's Law club for 2SLGBTQ+ law students and allies.
