Breakfast With Appeal: the “Breakfast Club” edition

Register

It’s back-to-school season, but instead of an all-day Saturday detention, you’re going to want to come to class early with this Breakfast Club!

While the original Breakfast Club might have had a brain, an athlete, a basket case, a princess and a criminal, on September 17 you get the BWA panel of law nerds, who will discuss the following topics:

  • Screws fall out all the time. The world’s an imperfect place!: North v. Bayerische Motoren Werke AG and how courts interpret economic loss.
  • You know what I did to get in here? Nothing!: Drover v. Canada and whether you have a Charter right to being a returning officer in a district you no longer live in.
  • Can you describe the ruckus?: Remington Development v. CPKC and the nuances of contract remedies.

After the panel dispenses with the cases, we will have an interview with Arif Virani, newly arrived Senior Counsel at Torys, and former Attorney General of Canada, to discuss “public law from the other (government) side.”  It’s sure to be a fascinating discussion!
