Following the announcement of Justice Sheilah Martin’s retirement from the Supreme Court of Canada, partner Jeremy Opolsky spoke with the Canadian Lawyer, describing her as “a force on the court” and expressing his surprise as this news was “not expected for many years to come.”
Noting her expertise in criminal law, Jeremy added that “she was deeply engaged with activities in the bar and across Canada, with an abiding commitment to welcoming lawyers and Canadians to the court.”
Justice Martin will be stepping down from the country’s highest court on May 30.
